What is Person-Centred therapy

Person-Centred therapy is therapy where the client is the expert on their situation. The therapist is there to facilitate and allow the client to recognise this. When you attend Person-Centred therapy you are valued and what you have to say is valued as well. In therapy you enter into a relationship where the therapist provides you with a safe non-judgemental space. Your opinion matters and whatever solution you come up with that works for you is valued. The therapist will refrain from adding their opinion into this space. Any intervention the therapist will take is aimed at facilitating you to draw on the resources you already have within you to aid you in arriving at a solution that is best for you. What you say, how you say it and what you don’t say are all experienced in this space. The therapist journeys alongside you and sometimes follows your lead. You are the EXPERT on your life.
